APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Appleton have released more information regarding the heavy police presence on South Riverdale Drive.
According to the Appleton Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 1300 Block of South Riverdale Drive for a welfare check early this afternoon that ended with the SWAT team being called to the scene.
Shortly after noon, officers were sent to the address for a welfare check. When officers arrived, a victim was safely able to exit the residence, and officers established a perimeter in the area.
Based on the assessment of the information provided, additional interviews, and previous law enforcement contacts, the SWAT Team was deployed. Various resources, including the K9, technology, and negotiator teams, were on the scene and completed a safe, methodical search of the residence.
Additional investigators continued to work on additional leads to locate the suspect. The male was not located in the residence. The investigation is still ongoing, and the Appleton Police Department says they will provide additional updates when they are able.
