DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Local fire crews used about 100,000 gallons of water to extinguish a fire that was blazing inside a Door County home on Sunday.

According to the Egg Harbor Fire Department, just before 10 a.m., crews responded to the 6000 block of Windsong Bluff Drive for reports of a grass fire which then escalated into a house fire situation.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters saw fire coming out of the second floor of a two-story building.

Officials quickly began an aggressive fire attack which included laying 2,400 feet of large diameter hose (LDH) from Reynolds road to the scene of the fire.

Authorities report that around 100,000 gallons of water, along with 100 gallons of Foam was used to extinguish the fire.

Crews were able to get the fire under control just after 12 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a burn barrel that had been lit to burn trash, however, the fire had escaped the barrel and traveled through the grass to the side of the home.

DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A road in Door County is being blocked off due to a structure fire on Sunday morning.

According to the Door County Sheriff’s Office, officers closed Reynolds Road from Townline Road to West Carlsville Road due to a structure fire.

At this time it is unknown how long this closure will last. In the meantime, residents are asked to avoid the area.
