Governor Scott Walker and local leaders cut a ribbon under the 441 Bridge on Wednesday in the Village of Fox Crossing.

The original bridge over Little Lake Butte Des Morts is now four lanes one way heading west.

The new bridge is for eastbound traffic.

Drivers will have an easier time getting to places like the Fox River Mall.

The project was estimated to cost more than half a billion dollars, but leaders say it is being completed under budget, at about $400 million.

“Just one of those where just talking to the fire and police folks here, you look at this and this has always been a concern about not having access just from an emergency standpoint that alone is incredibly worth it,” Governor Scott Walker said.

All lanes on the bridges will be open by the end of the month.
