Rooftop Challenge raising awareness and funds for homelessness

Local News

GREEN BAY, Wis (WFRV) — In an effort to fight homelessness and raise awareness, VP’s from Capital Credit Union are taking to the rooftops.

The group will sleep overnight on a rooftop as part of the Rooftop Challange that will benefit St. John’s Homeless Shelter in Green Bay and Pillars in Appleton.

The reason for the challenge is to experience the struggles of being out in the elements but it is also to show the community that the homeless are not bad people;

“You may not see them like you would a big city and that type of thing but they are definitely here. And they are good people that are maybe suffering from mental illness or maybe a bad thing happened.”

Last year’s fighting homelessness campaign raised nearly $37,000.

Donations will be taken throughout the month of May at all 26 Capital Credit Union branches, St. John’s Homeless Shelter and Pillars.
