177 kids participating in the 42nd Annual Bellin Run are receiving free running gear, courtesy of Schneider and Shopko.

The support packages, which contain shoes, socks, shirts, and shorts, were selected from the aisles of Shopko at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon Tuesday morning.  They will be picked up later in the week by running coaches, who will deliver them to the kids.  The kids receiving the items are in 3rd through 8th grade, and in financial need.

“The kids, they are overjoyed,” said Tia DeLeers, Kids for Running coordinator for the Bellin Run.  “Some of these kids… this is the first time that they get new running shoes, new running equipment, and it just puts smiles on their faces.”

The kids’ registration fee for the race is also being waived.

The Bellin Run is taking place on Saturday, June 9th, beginning at 8 a.m.
