Shattuck Middle School students experience life as firefighters

Local News

Students at Neenah’s Shattuck Middle School stepped into firefighter shoes as part of a physical fitness training conducted by Neenah-Menasha firefighters.

The 7th & 8th-grade students were challenged to carry firehose up stairwells, drag weighted mannequins around cones and perform “hands only” CPR for several minutes at a time.

Firefighters set up the different stations for the kids to participate in so they can better understand the physical aspect of the job.

The department will be hiring up to 20 new positions in the next seven years so they also hope todays program encourages students to consider becoming fire fighters in the future.
