A 50-year-old Sheboygan man is facing several charges after a domestic violence incident lead to him jumping out of an 8th floor window.
Sheboygan Police say it happened around 8 a.m. on Tuesday when a call came in for a physical fight in the 6th floor elevator lobby of a building in the 600 block of North Water Street.
Police say the suspect was in a domestic violence incident with a former girlfriend in that lobby area. A male companion of the victim tried to stop the suspect from allegedly strangling and battering the woman.
Police add that the men were fighting in the lobby when the suspect tried to jump out of the 6th floor elevator lobby window. The other man grabbed the suspect and pulled him in from the window ledge.
Police say the suspect then left, went up two flights to the 8th floor, removed a screen and jumped out a window.
Police say during the fall, the man struck a large tree before landing. The man was eventually flown to Theda Clark Trauma Center in Neenah. He’s in serious, but stable condition.
Police add that the suspect was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
They say he was also involved in two hit-and-run accidents and fled the scene on foot. Nobody was injured during those collisions.
The suspect is facing several charges including felony strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct, damage to property, and several traffic-related charges.
The incident is still under investigation.
