Six people were taken to area hospitals Friday with injuries after a four-vehicle crash in Sheboygan County.
It happened at approximately 4:28 p.m., when Sheboygan County Sheriff’s officials received multiple calls for a crash on State Highway 57 at County Road A in the Town of Rhine.
Although initial reports indicated up to six vehicles could be involved, deputies discovered upon arrival that there four vehicles, including a pickup truck pulling a car hauling tractor.
There were no life threatening injuries, but six people total were transported to area hospitals by ambulance.
Highway 57 was closed for approximately four hours as officials conducted an investigation.
Initial reports suggest that two passenger vehicles and the pickup truck were all traveling southbound on the highway, and the first vehicle slowed to turn east on to County Road A. The second vehicle also slowed to turn, and the pickup truck struck that vehicle from behind, causing it to spin into the northbound lane of Highway 57, into the path of another vehicle.
The truck then collided with the first vehicle, and the trailer became detached.
The crash remains under investigation.
Names of those involved are not expected to be released until Saturday morning.
