Jack Zolkowski says he found his passion in 2001, when he started the Soda Pups Dog Show along with his wife Nancy.
The show travels across the area to preform at nursing homes, schools, and libraries.
“I love the idea of making people laugh and just the idea of having a purpose in life,” he told Local 5.
The dog show features a rotating cast of small dogs, all named after different brands of soda.
Jack says the themed names began with their first dog, who came to them already named Pepsi. The pair kept with the trend, and named all dogs that followed after soda pops, like Sierra Mist and Squirt.
The current lineup features Root Beer, Ginger Ale, and Sun Drop, affectionately known as Sunny.
If he does ever run out of soda names, Jack has a backup plan.
“I’ll switch to beer and the first beer I would pick would be Budweiser,” Jack told Local 5. “Then I could for short call it Buddy.”
Jack has no plans to end the show, even as he approaches his 80th birthday.
“I want to do them as long as I can, because it gives me a purpose in life,” he said. “I’ve been retired a lot of years already, and I look forward to every show.”
