Brown County tells Local 5 as of noon Monday, 160 accidents had been reported in a 24-hour period.
One of those accidents that illustrated the danger of icy road conditions was caught on a dash cam.
At about 9:30 am Monday morning, an Ashwaubenon Public Safety Officer was struck by a semi.
According to Ashwaubenon Public Safety, the squad car was entering the intersection on Eastbound Cormier Rd at Southbound Ashland Ave when a Southbound Semi failed to stop for the red light and struck the patrol car in the driver’s door.
Police say the officer was initially trapped in the vehicle but was able to get free uninjured.
Ashland Ave was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety,
“This is a good reminder to drive within safe speeds so you are able to stop and/or avoid crashes when conditions deteriorate.”
