A Statewide public drug awareness campaign will be launched tomorrow morning, starting in Green Bay.
The campaign aims at educating the public on the dangers and consequences of a criminal practice known as “smurfing”.
Smurfing is the illegal act of purchasing over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, specifically cold and allergy medicines containing Pseudoephedrine (PSE), such as Claritin-D and Sudafed, for criminals seeking to produce methamphetamine.
Attorney General Brad Schimel, Wisconsin Grocers Association, Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, Alliance of Wisconsin Retailers and the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) will partner up for this initiative.
The first stop will be tomorrow at the Pick ‘n’ Save Pharmacy on Lombardi Access Road at 10 AM. After Green Bay, the campaign will make a stop in Wausau at Trig’s Pharmacy.
