A man who has been previously convicted of sexual abuse to animals was arrested again and appeared in a Brown County courtroom Wednesday.
Sterling Rachwal, 53, was arrested for sexual gratification with an animal, mistreatment of animals causing death and burglary on Monday. He was booked into the county jail.
On Wednesday morning, jail records show additional charges of mistreatment of animals causing death and sexual gratification with an animal.
These recommended charges stem from both Brown and Manitowoc County.
Rachwal was in court Wednesday where prosecutors say he sexually assaulted a horse in Eaton in February and another in Manitowoc County in April.
Charges have yet to be filed.
The judge ordered Rachwal to be held on a $5,000 cash bond.
In 1993, Rachwal was convicted of mistreatment of animals causing death, intentional mistreatment of animals, and sexual gratification with an animal in Monroe County.
In 1996, he was found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, according to court records. He was found guilty of actually committing the crimes charged in Waupaca County, but was also found not to be legally responsible because of his mental condition.
In 2010, Rachwal was charged with disorderly conduct in Fond du Lac.
