BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) - A Northeast Wisconsin man with a lengthy history of abusing animals is scheduled to be back in court Friday morning.
54 year old Sterling Rachwal is appearing in Brown County Court for a plea and sentencing hearing. He's facing multiple charges, including intentional mistreatment of an animal.
Prosecutors say that Rachwal sexually assaulted a horse in Brown County in February 2017, and another horse in Manitowoc County in April 2017. Rachwal had previously been scheduled for a jury trial last month, but that was canceled. His defense had previously entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, but that has since been withdrawn.
Rachwal has a long history of similar charges throughout multiple counties in Wisconsin, going back decades.
Rachwal's hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:05 A.M. at the Brown County Courthouse.
