Steven Avery Wants Conviction Reversed and a New Trial

Local News

Steven Avery’s attorney Kathleen Zellner has filed a motion requesting a new trial.

Zellner posted a copy of the motion on her website and then tweeted the update.

The motion says that in 2007, the state spent an enormous amount of time and effort perpetrating a fraud upon Steven Avery’s jury.

It continues by saying that in order to win Mr. Avery’s conviction and exclude everyone else as the perpetrator, the State had to convince the jury that Mr. Avery alone was connected to the crime scene.

The 41-page motion concludes with the following statement:

For all of the above-stated reasons, Mr. Avery is requesting that his conviction be reversed and that his cause be set for a new trial and for any other relief that this Court deems appropriate to grant.

Local 5 will continue to update you with the latest information as it becomes available.
