Sturgeon Bay Police Report School Gun Incident

Sturgeon Bay police are reporting an incident tonight that happened on Monday, June 11th at Sunset Elementary School. Police say at 11:00 A.M that day, officers were dispatched to the school for a report of a juvenile male with a gun. It was reported by school staff that the male was attempting to gain entry into the school, but the doors were locked. Within a minute of the call being dispatched, officers arrived on the scene and saw a juvenile male walking between the houses near the school. Officers made contact with the boy, who dropped something he was carrying when he saw police. Police tell us he was taken into custody without incident.

Officers later found that the juvenile male had discarded a black BB handgun.  Police found a BB gun rifle a short distance away. The boy was referred to Door County Social Services.
