Three Fox Valley Organizations Merge to Better Serve the Area’s Homeless Population

Local News

A crowd gathered at U.S. Venture Monday afternoon for the official announcement: the Fox Valley Warming Shelter, Homeless Connections, and the Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities have merged together to form Pillars.

The new organization will be headed by Executive Director Joe Mauthe, former director of the Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities.

“Something new like this always gives us fresh opportunity and possibilities and I’m sure there will be additional programs and services that we haven’t even thought about yet that will naturally emerge as one organization,” Mauthe told Local 5.

The merger will be effective in part because the three organizations provide very different services to the Fox Valley’s homeless population.

“Our old agencies didn’t overlap a lot,” Mauthe said. “Everybody had a niche within our community, and we operated withing that and we collaborated well together, so there’s not a lot of redundancy that we’re pulling out of this.”
