Three-Year-Old’s Bike Adventure Leads to Arrest

Local News

A three-year-old out for a bike ride leads to the arrest of the mom’s boyfriend.

A Neenah Police Officer noticed a young girl riding her bicycle over the Racine Street Bridge Bridge, Monday.

After seeing that the three-year-old was alone, police say the officer stopped to check on the girl.

According to police, the girl said she was riding her bike to the gas station, “Because they have gum”.

Police reached out to the girl’s mom after the three-year-old told the officer her and her mom’s name.

Officials say the Mom had left earlier in the day and there was some confusion about who was supposed to be watching the children.

After the young girl mentioned a baby sibling at home, Menasha Officers went to the family’s residence to check on the infant.

Police report the mother’s boyfriend was found sleeping inside the apartment, and that the infant was located in a crib and OK.

It turned out, according to police, the boyfriend had multiple warrants out through several agencies so he was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

Winnebago County Human Services, the Child Protection Unit, was notified and responded to the Menasha Police Department to interview the children and the mother when she arrived.
