The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office have released the names and more details of the double fatality traffic crash which occurred in the Town of Winneconne Monday night.

According to the sheriff's department, Koley J. O'Brien, 30, of Winneconne was driving a Nissan Pathfinder westbound on STH 116 near Harbour South Drive. Charles P. Mier, 53, of Omro was driving a Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on STH 116.

Both drivers were alone in their vehicles and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The sheriff's department states, based on the evidence gathered, O'Brien's vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Mier's vehicle head-on.

Both vehicles were traveling at highway speeds. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol was a factor, however, toxicology results are pending.
