A heavy police presence could be found at Davis and McKinley Streets in Two Rivers.
An incident has resulted in one officer ending up in the hospital because of a physical encounter with the suspect who is also in the hospital.
It started when officers were called to investigate suspicious material at a residence on Davis street, though they can’t reveal what the material was at this time.
It was then officers made their way to McKinley street where a person of interest made his way outside of the residence and would not cooperate with officers and the officers had to respond with physical force.
“Officers ended up having to go hands on with him to try and subdue him,” says Brian Kohlmeier with Two Rivers police. “During that period of time that individual was wielding a knife and during the struggle to apprehend him, he had stabbed the officer in the leg at least once or twice. “
Police are not revealing much about the suspect except that he is in his 50s.
There’s not a threat to the public, but police were still on scene late into the night.
