UN-BEAR-ABLE: It’s “Pay Your Age” Day at Build-A-Bear

Local News

It was “Pay Your Age” day at Build-A-Bear stores across the country on Thursday and the response was far greater than anyone expected, including those at the company itself.

Officials at Build-a-bear released a statement to the public,

The response to our Pay Your Age Day event has been overwhelming and unprecedented in our 21-year history, and the safety of our Guests and associates is our top priority. The crowds have greatly exceeded our expectations and, per local authorities, some stores are at capacity and cannot accept additional Guests for this event due to extreme crowds and safety concerns. We understand our affected Guests may be disappointed, and we are working to address the situation. We will reach out directly to our valued Guests as soon as possible.

Two Northeast Wisconsin locations in the Green Bay and Appleton areas experienced waits in excess of four hours.

The line at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon has wrapped fully around the north wing as people wait in line for “Pay Your Age” day at Build-A-Bear.

Video sent from Local 5 viewer Ally Gerndt shows just how long those lines were (PLAY >> Click the white button to the right of the video).

In Grand Chute, lines outside the store are reported to be a 6-hour wait.
