UPDATE: 2 Dead, 5 Injured in Winnebago County Crash

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on the crash. They say a Nissan Frontier crossed the center line of the highway and struck a Subaru Forester head-on before crashing into a Nissan Rogue.

According to police, the Forester was driven by 75-year-old Gary Martin. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 75-year-old Julie Sara, was airlifted to a hospital but passed away Monday morning from her injuries. Officials say the couple very recently moved from Sister Bay, WI to Hillsboro, OR.

They say, the driver of the Frontier is a 46-year-old Oshkosh man who sustained serious injuries. His wife, a 33-year-old Oshkosh woman, was in the car as well and received critical injuries.

According to the report, the Rogue was driven by a 39-year-old Menasha woman. She sustained minor injuries as did one of her passengers, a 7-year-old girl from Waupaca. A second passenger, a 46-year-old man from Menasha, received serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Five people were injured in a three vehicle accident in Winnebago County Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened on State Highway 21 near Edgewater Ridge Road in the Town of Rushford at around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says 5 patients were transported to area hospitals, one by helicopter 4 others by ambulance. 

State Highway 21 was shut down in the area for about 5 1/2 hours as the Winnebago County Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.
