In a media release to Local 5, Dickinson County Memorial Hospital expressed its sympathies to the Ross family.
The hospital also explained it was unaware of the coroner’s report until a media release was sent out,
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Ross family.
DCHS was unaware of the coroner’s report until we learned from the recent press release that was distributed to the media yesterday morning by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department.
WEDNESDAY 4/4/2018 4:23 p.m.
Marinette County Sheriff Jerome Suave stated that Deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash on US HWY 141 in the Town of Amberg on March 16th.
Following the crash, multiple people were transferred to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI.
Everyone transferred to the hospital as a result of the crash were treated and released the same day as the accident.
Later that same evening, Pembine Rescue Squad was sent to a residence in Pembine for a woman who had collapsed and was unresponsive.
66-year-old Nancy L. Ross of Pembine died at the scene.
It was later determined that Ross was a passenger in one of the cars involved in the crash from earlier that day.
Ross was also one of the people treated and released from Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
According to the Sheriff, an autopsy revealed Ross died from internal injuries sustained in the crash.
Marinette County Sheriff’s Department say this was the county’s first traffic death of 2018.
