UPDATE

Lockdown lifted.

According to a press release to Local 5 by the Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety, the lockdown was lifted shortly after 11am.

The lockdown lasted for about an hour.

Parents in the school district received an automated voice message to their phones updating them of the situation.

The threat was discovered on the social media app Snapchat, a hugely popular medium among youths that expires video or photo-based posts shortly after publishing them.

In the statement, ADPS explained,

“This morning our agency was notified by Green Bay Police that there were possible threats referencing a school shooting in the Green Bay Area. In these threats Ashwaubenon Schools were allegedly mentioned along with other schools in Brown County.

According to the young people who reported this, the threats were not specific in nature.”

Investigators could not confirm any specific or credible threat, but the school district will maintain a police presence throughout the day as a precaution.
