The Door County Sheriff’s Department says they are searching for a 57-year-old man from Neenah who went missing after taking pictures at Cave Point County Park.
According to a press release, around 9:16 p.m. on Sunday, the sheriff’s department received a call about the man who had not returned to his home in Neenah after visiting his property in the Town of Jacksonport. The last reported contact was around 5 p.m. when he was in touch with his wive and told her he was taking the pictures. Deputies then responded to the area and found his vehicle in a parking lot at the park at around 9:43 p.m.
A foot search was conducted and some items were found in the park near a cliff along the shore that deputies believed belonged to the man. The sheriff’s department says 7 to 8 foot waves were reported on Lake Michigan and the cliff along the shore, and was reported to be ice-covered and dangerous.
The Coast Guard was then called in and dispatched a helicopter and boat, and conducted a water search of the area. However, they suspended their search on Monday at around 1:30 a.m.
Search efforts continue for the man. Foul play is not suspected, and the man’s name is not being released at this time.
