UPDATE: Two Rivers’ Memorial Drive Closure Extended

Wisconsin DOT is saying Northbound WIS 42 near Two Rivers will remain closed until Monday.

The following is a detailed description of the closure and detour provided by Wis DOT:

  • Northbound WIS 42 remains CLOSED at the site of the sewer line collapse until Monday evening, July 30.

    • Detour: Northbound WIS 42 traffic is being detoured via Columbus Street to WIS 310.

  • Southbound WIS 42 will be CLOSED at the site of the sewer line collapse beginning Monday morning, July 30 and remain closed until Thursday evening, August 2.

    • Detour: Southbound WIS 42 traffic will be detoured along WIS 310 at 16th Street and directed to Columbus Street to join again with WIS 42.

  • Note: Both northbound and southbound WIS 42 will be closed Monday.

Two Rivers’ Memorial Drive Closed Through Friday for Sinkhole Repairs

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is saying northbound WIS 42 north of Roosevelt Avenue near Two Rivers will be closed until Friday afternoon.

Sinkhole ‘About Five to Six Feet in Diameter’

Officials at the scene are telling Local 5 reporter Erinn Taylor they had noticed the newly paved portion of the roadway slightly sunken. 

After breaking a small opening into the road to search for the cause, officials discovered the sinkhole below. 

According to Two Rivers Director of Public Safety James McDonald, the sinkhole is about five to six feet in diameter.

Two Rivers Sinkhole Keeps Road Closed Through Tuesday

Wisconsin DOT is saying northbound WIS 42 north of Roosevelt Avenue near Two Rivers will be closed until Tuesday afternoon.

Large Sinkhole Shuts Down Major Road in Two Rivers

In a phone call with the Two Rivers Police Department, Local 5 has learned a portion of Memorial Drive is closed because of a sinkhole.

According to police, a large sinkhole opened up on HWY 42 in Two Rivers and may affect traffic for at least a week.

Wisconsin DOT says WIS 42 north at Roosevelt Avenue is closed due to a “collapsed storm sewer line.”

Traffic is being detoured from Roosevelt Avenue east to 12th street; head east on 12th to Madison Street, follow Madison north to northbound 42.
