UPDATE: Woman dies after Fond du Lac house fire

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) — Police say the occupant of the home, a female, died at the hospital. They are not releasing the victim’s name until her family can be notified.

Police say the cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined. We will continue to update this story as new information comes in.

House fire sends one person to hospital

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue is investigating a house fire which sent an occupant to the hospital.

On Sunday, May 19 around 1:13 p.m., firefighters were called to a report of smoke coming out of a house located at 29 Woods Place in Fond du Lac.

Officials say they arrived to heavy smoke on the first floor.  Firefighters quickly found and extinguished the fire, but not before the home experienced substantial damage.

One occupant in the house was transported to SSM Health Hospital.

Alliant Gas and Electric division were called to the scene to assist with utility control.  Fond du Lac Police provided traffic control and scene management.

The fire is currently under investigation and no firefighters were hurt.
