UPDATED: Deadly Oshkosh crash investigation

Local News

UPDATE: 5/9/2018 12:30 p.m.

Oshkosh Police say they continue to investigate the accident. The Department says the driver of the vehicle that struck the child has been cooperative with them and voluntarily submitted a blood sample to officers.

Officials are waiting on toxicology results, and anticipate the results will take several months. They say their preliminary investigation indicates this accident does not appear to be criminal and there is no indication alcohol or drugs were a factor.

When the investigation is done, the case will be submitted to the Winnebago County’s District Attorney’s Office for review.

Around 2:10 pm the Oshkosh Fire Department and Police Department responded to a report of a four year old that had been struck by a vehicle while riding her bike in the 1300 block of West South Park Ave.

The child was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.

The crash is still under investigation and W. 18th Avenue and Knapp St. are still closed for that investigation.
