UWGB Incoming Freshmen Help Clean up Bay Shore County Park

Local News

Five hundred new UW-Green Bay freshmen volunteered to clean up garbage at Bay Shore County Park in New Franken today.

In total around 600, upperclassmen, volunteers and teachers gathered at Bay Shore County Park. This was a volunteer event to help clean up the local community park. Many of the students also used this as a time for meeting fellow classmates all while giving back to the community.

The students worked in teams to support eight different areas of Bay Shore County Park. From cleaning the beach and boat landing to clearing brush and doing campsite maintenance.

UW-Green Bay is dedicated to making a difference in the area. The Green Bay Packers partnered with UWGB to reward the incoming freshmen with a party after all their hard work was done. The party was held at Lambeau Field where the students could continue to make connections with their fellow classmates.

With approximately 77% of new students attending UW-Green Bay from outside of Brown County, the service project and Lambeau Field Celebration allows the University to serve and showcase the region.
