The Brown County Sheriff’s Department is upgrading video recording equipment in its sallyport area.
The upgrades are part of a $1.2 million project that is also making changes to the jail’s door controls and intercoms. The Sheriff’s Department says the new cameras are not connected to the shooting of Jonathan Tubby, which occurred in 2018. Sheriff Todd Delain says the planned improvement had been in place for years.
“We routinely look at improving to new technology, in this case, to enhance our ability to see the images and see what’s going on,” he told Local 5.
The full project began in 2017 and will be complete by late this year or early next year, though the cameras themselves are expected to be installed by August.
