The Civil Air Patrol and Wreaths Across American teamed up to get wreaths to put on veterans graves at Woodlawn Cemetery in Allouez.
However, they couldn’t do it alone, so dozens of volunteers showed up to search through the snow to find designated grave stones, more than 900 veterans have been laid to rest in the cemetery.
That includes a deceased veteran that people might recognize, Lt. Colonel Austin Straubel is buried here, so Austin Straubel International Airport Director Tom Miller laid a wreath on Straubel’s grave.
Miller said that Straubel served in World War II where he died trying to help in a rescue attempt after an airplane crash.
