APPLETON (WFRV) — A Vietnam War-era veteran’s life is changing forever — all thanks to members of the community.

The veteran, named John, was diagnosed with MS in the 1970s, confining him to a wheelchair.

Tundraland Home Improvements collaborated with artists and community figures to turn old windows into works of art.  The windows were auctioned off at an event called Windows for a Cause and all money raised goes towards buying a specialized, stand-up wheelchair for John.

“What’s cool about it…what’s so humbling about it is how the local artists and community members responded,” Tundraland President Brian Gottlieb said.  “And just the participation (from the community)….it’s goosebumps stuff.”

The auction Wednesday night raised $15,000, including the Tundraland match, and it’s enough to buy the wheelchair.
