Wisconsin draws an 8 seed after losing Big 10 Championship to Michigan

The Wisconsin Badgers will play Virginia Tech on Thursday in the NCAA tournament after the Badgers were defeated by the Michigan Wolverines in the Big 10 Championship.

It is a tough draw for Wisconsin that sets up a potential second round matchup with number one seed Villanova in the east regional that will be played in Buffalo.

Wisconsin Badgers fans were geared up for the championship game today at the Green Bay Distillery as alumni and friends got together to cheer on the Badgers.

However, to start the second half Wisconsin went seven and a half minutes before getting their first bucket of the half, leaving fans with little to cheer about.

“This has been how the entire season has gone they’ve played well at times and struggled at times,” said Kevin Brauer of De Pere who has a niece who is a thrower for the Wisconsin track and field team.

Fans felt like Wisconsin would get anywhere between a five and seven seeds, so the fans were disappointed when the selection committee announced Wisconsin as a number eight.

Last year Wisconsin made a run to the sweet sixteen with a an incredible last second win over Xavier, so you never know what can happen during March madness.

“Four senior starters, a lot of tournament experience and they’ve had success,” said Brauer. “I guess that’s why they play the game.”

Marquette received a ten seed and will take on South Carolina also in the east regional, they will play on Friday in Greenville.
