Minnesota’s governor ordered the state to take back a license plate he called offensive on Monday, WCCO reports.

The license plate had the letter ‘F’ before ‘MUSLMS,’ which is believed to be an abbreviation for ‘Muslims.’

The plate was issued last June, and the owner was said to have surrendered the plates Monday.

The Department of Public Safety told WCCO that it never should have issued the plate and apologized.

A man saw the plate and shared a picture of it on Facebook over the weekend. After the picture was shared many times, the information was said to have finally reached the Governor’s Office and DPS.
