History and development shape the City of De Pere

Newsmaker Sunday

On this edition of Newsmaker Sunday, we explore the City of De Pere. The Brown County community has a rich history with Native Americans the first to call the area home.

In 1634 European Jean Nicolet visited and was greeted by the Winnebago tribe. The area then became a trading post.

Fast forward to the 1800’s when West De Pere merged with De Pere and the state legislature approved the measure creating the City of De Pere in 1890.
Tom Zalaski talks with city leaders about the past and the future of this Brown County community.
