K9 Officers and what they do to support law enforcement

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV-TV) — This Week on Newsmaker Sunday, we Focus On The Role K9 Officers Play In Our Communities. These Are Specially Trained Dogs who search for Drugs, explosives and are often called upon To subdue suspects running or hiding From law enforcement officers.
And it is dangerous work. During a police incident on April 7, Green Bay K9 officer Pyro was severely injured. He was stabbed 3 times in the neck and transported to the Animal Resource Center in Appleton where he had two surgeries to repair the damage.
Since Then — Pyro is recovering at home and is continuing to make progress. 

Local 5’s Tom Zalaski talks with the handler of another K9 officer Taylor Clark, who handles Bose and Heidi Heil of an organization called Bark’n Blue which helps departments across Northeast Wisconsin to help with the needs and care of these animals.
