Oshkosh man arrested for suspected 8th drinking and driving violation

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – A 54 year old Oshkosh man was arrested after a crash Monday night. Police believe he had been drinking.

The man was not allowed to have a blood alcohol content of more than 0.02 because of seven prior convictions of drunk driving or driving with a prohibited alcohol content.  

The crash happened at the intersection of W. 20th Ave. and W. South Park Ave. in Oshkosh.

Investigators say the man ran a red light, crashing into two other vehicles. 

The driver was trapped in his car. He was freed with help from the Oshkosh Fire Department. He was hurt, but is expected to live. 

A dog that was inside the man’s car did not survive the crash.  

The otherdrivers involved did not need medical attention.
