Outagamie County, WI (WFRV) — Monday’s storms brought over two inches of rain to parts of Outagamie County. That’s according to the county Emergency Management office. A spokesperson tells us that there are community resources available to provide assistance to those affected by the flooding.

If you need assistance with your flood clean-up or have questions on where to find assistance please call the United Way 2-1-1. The Salvation Army has flood clean-up kits available for those who need it. These kits can be picked up at the Salvation Army building at 130 E. North Street in Appleton. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday between 8am and 4pm.

Here are some tips for cleaning up a flooded basement:

Clean up flooded areas as soon as possible to prevent the growth of mold.

Remove and discard items that cannot be washed and disinfected (for example, mattresses, carpeting, carpet padding, rugs, upholstered furniture, cosmetics, stuffed animals, baby toys, pillows, foam-rubber items, books, wall coverings and most paper products.)

Remove and discard drywall and insulation that has been contaminated with sewage or flood waters.

Thoroughly clean all hard surfaces (for example, flooring, concrete, molding, wood and metal furniture, countertops, appliances, sinks and other plumbing fixtures) with hot water and laundry or dish detergent.

Help the drying process by using fans, air conditioners and dehumidifiers.

Wash all clothes contaminated with flood or sewage water (including those worn during the clean-up) in hot water and detergent.

If you have sustained flood damage, the Outagamie County Emergency Management Office wants to hear from you. Please provide the following information:
