GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The race for Green Bay mayor is down to two. Current mayor, Jim Schmitt, will face City Council President Tom DeWane. The goal for both Schmitt and Dewane is to persuade voters to trust in their individual plans.
Mayor Schmitt said, under his watch, crime rates have dropped and downtown development has been a top priority.
DeWane hopes to help create more jobs and grow other areas of the city.
Local 5 spoke with some voters and got their thoughts on key projects around Green Bay.
“I live on the east side,” Kaden Maloney explained. “Over by East Town and I think that’s kind of been a little bit forgotten. But, yeah, I think that can be kind of integrated in as well.”
“Because I did live downtown and I feel like it’s a place where people can commute and get together,” Scott Coats said. “I would guess that would take precedence over some of the other geographical areas that might come up in the debates and discussions.”
The general election is April 7th.
