MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A bill that creates regulations for ride hailing companies like Uber and Lyft has been approved by the state senate.

The measure ensures that the companies would have to buy a state license, conduct driver background checks, and maintain liability insurance.

It also prevents communities from creating their own ordinances. The bill now moves to Governor Walker’s desk.
