ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) – The newest interstate in Wisconsin now has the signs to show it.
A sign for Interstate 41 was unveiled Thursday near Hanson Road. Speakers at the ceremoney included Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, Rep. Reid Ribble (R-Sherwood), and former congressman Tom Petri.
State officials say the new designation is an investment in northeast Wisconsin.
“A $1.5 billion investment in U.S. 41 in Brown and Winnebago Counties,” State Transportation Secretary Mark Gotttlieb says, “and really what this Interstate designation does is it leverages that $1.5 billion investment to create this Interstate corridor.”
The starting point of Interstate 41 is the Illinois – Wisconsin border. It runs 175 miles long.
