Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of victims in double fatality crash

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office have released the names and more details of the double fatality traffic crash which occurred in the Town of Winneconne Monday night.
According to the sheriff’s department, Koley J. O’Brien, 30, of Winneconne was driving a Nissan Pathfinder westbound on STH 116 near Harbour South Drive. Charles P. Mier, 53, of Omro was driving a Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on STH 116.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The sheriff’s department states, based on the evidence gathered, O’Brien’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Mier’s vehicle head-on.
Both vehicles were traveling at highway speeds. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol was a factor, however, toxicology results are pending.
The investigation is ongoing, according to officials.
Two dead after head-on crash in Town of Winneconne

Two people are dead following a head-on crash on Monday around 8:44 p.m. on Highway 116 at Harbour South Street.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says each vehicle was occupied by only the driver.
Highway 116 was closed between County Highway S and County Highway M for nearly three hours while the crash was investigated and cleaned up.
The names of the victims are not being released at this time pending notification to the family. No other information has been released at this time.
