GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Military veterans who’ve fought to find adequate housing may now have a place to call home.

Veterans Manor in Green Bay will host its grand opening Wednesday, June 17th.

This apartment building is tailored to veterans and has 50 one-bedroom apartments for vets who are on a fixed income.

The grand opening will include a flag raising ceremony at 2PM, with the opening ceremony at 3PM.

WFRV spoke with a manager and a tenant back in May and they said even months ago space was filling up fast.

“At the rate we’re going, we’re going to have everything leased, it’s entirely possible, by the end of June,” said Joel Thomae, manager at Cardinal Capital.

“So to get back into a place that’s my own is going to be a relief,” said Jim Weir, a U.S. Army Veteran and a future tenant.

There is some construction happening along St. Anthony Drive so there will be limited parking at the ceremony.

However, shuttle service to the grand opening event will be provided starting at 1:30PM through 5:30PM.

The shuttle will run from the Woodland Park Apartments to the Veterans Manor Apartments.
