Haliburton named Gatorade State Boys Basketball Player of the Year

Oshkosh North senior guard Tyrese Haliburton has been named 2017-18 Gatorade Wisconsin Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Haliburton averaged 23.2 points, 6.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 3.7 steals through 24 games, converting 68.6 percent of his field goal attempts. 

The 6-foot-5, 175-pound Iowa State commit has led the Spartans to a 23-1 record and a berth in the Division 1 sectional semifinals where the Spartans will take on Eau Claire North Thursday in Wausau.

Haliburton was also named FVA Co-Player of the Year along with Kaukauna’s Jordan McCabe.

The last player from WFRV’s coverage area to win Gatorade State Player of the Year was Sam Dekker in 2011-12.
