Kimberly tops Appleton East to advance to sectional finals

KIMBERLY, Wis. – The Kimberly girls soccer team advanced to the sectional finals, defeating Appleton East 2-1 at Papermaker Stadium Thursday.

Kimberly junior Elsi Twombley scored twice, including the go-ahead goal off a free kick in the 75th minute.

Patriots sophomore Lainey Higgins scored the game’s first goal in the 13th minute, before Twombley tied it  later in the first half off a corner kick from Courtney Rammer.

The Papermakers will take on defending Division 1 State Champions Bay Port Saturday at 1 PM in Kaukauna in the sectional championship game.
