SEYMOUR, Wis. – For the second straight season, the Seymour High School softball team lost just one game during the regular season.
This time around the Thunder parlayed that success into the program’s first trip to the state softball tournament.
#2 seed Seymour will play #3 seed Ellsworth Friday afternoon at Goodman Diamond in Madison.
The team may be playing at the home of the Wisconsin Badgers, but Seymour head coach Karri VandenLangenberg had a message for her squad this week.
“Basically what I said is when you guys walk out on Goodman Field, because they only get 5 minutes before the game, I said I each want you to bend down and pick up a clump of dirt,” VandenLangenberg said.
“It’s the same dirt that we play on right here. It’s just like playing at home, it’s just that you’re at a little bigger stadium with a few more people and a little more excitement, but it’s the same dirt.”
