The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired 2B Neil Walker and cash from the Mets Saturday for a player to be named later.

The Brewers are hoping Walker can provide an offensive boost at the position.

Heading into Saturday’s game, Milwaukee’s current second basemen Jonathan Villar and Eric Sogard ranked last in the league with a .672 OPS.

The 31-year-old Walker hit .264 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs in 73 games with New York this season.

In his 9-year career Walker has a .272 batting average along with 1,019 hits, 126 home runs, and 509 RBI.
