Florida buzzer-beater ends Badgers NCAA Tournament run

Chris Chiozza went end to end in 4 seconds and made a 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime as Florida knocked Wisconsin out of the NCAA Tournament 84-83 Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Before the Gators’ game-winner, Nigel Hayes gave the Badgers a 2-point lead with 4 seconds left on two free throws. 

Wisconsin senior guard Zak Showalter pushed the game to overtime by hitting a similar leaning 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds left in regulation as the Badgers came back from a double-digit deficit with less than 5 minutes to play.

Florida will play South Carolina on Sunday with a trip to the Final 4 on the line.

Hayes paced the Badgers in his final game in a Wisconsin uniform with 22 points and 6 rebounds, although he made only 7 of 14 free throw attempts.  Sophomore Ethan Happ added 21 points and 6 boards for the Badgers who finish the season with a 27-10 record.
