OCONTO, Wis. (WFRV) — Oconto residents gave their furry friends a clean start before summer begins.

The community was able to pamper their pooches at a dog wash at the Oconto Area Humane Society (OAHS) located on 150 S. Katch Dr.  The event took place on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Dogs were treated to a nail trim and a blow out for $10.

OAHS Board of Directors Treasurer Angie Porter said daily grooming will help keep your dog happy and healthy.

“Everything with the dogs grooming helps with their health and it keeps the bacteria out of their skin” Porter said.  “You know dogs are tending to run around in the woods and you want to make sure that’s not getting into their skin and causing other health ailments as well.”

The event raised over $1,400.  The proceeds will go towards the medical costs and other animal needs at OAHS and the Oconto Veterinary Clinic.
