The defense stole the show in team periods as the Packers took to the field for their second training camp practice on Friday.

Injury Report:

RT Bryan Bulaga (knee) and Nick Perry (ankle) remain out as they started training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform List (PUP).

WR Randall Cobb revealed that he had ankle surgery to remove a small piece of cartilage six weeks ago, but has been a full participant in the first two days of camp.

News & Notes:

The defense picked off Aaron Rodgers three times on Friday. Blake Martinez and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix registered two of them, and the third came on a drop by Jamaal Williams.

Wide Receiver Jake Kumerow had a big day with a pair of catches in the two minute drill. As well as a leaping grab along the sidelines in the pass under pressure drill.

A DeShone Kizer to Robert Tonyan touchdown pass was the lone score in the two minute drill period. Martinez’s interception of Rodgers, and an Ahmad Thomas breaking up a Brett Hundley fourth down pass ended the other two drives.

Wide receiver Trevor Davis took reps as the number one kick returner on Friday, with WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling and RB Ty Montgomery following.

They Said It:

CB Tramon Williams on new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine: “Mike is just a straight-forward guy. One of the nicest guys you’ll meet off the field, but when it comes to football he means business.  And it’s not about scheme with him, it’s more about mindset. If I can beat the man in front of me every down, then no matter what we can that’s what I should do.”

LB Nick Perry on sitting out while on the PUP list: “The main thing for me right now is just engulfig into the playbook, and just making sure I know it in and out from a classroom setting. At this point right now. At this point right now, I’m focused on getting my body prepared and mentally in the classroom getting that all down before I take the field.”

WR Randall Cobb on offseason ankle surgery: “I started feeling a lot through OTAs. After we went back and looked, I had a scan on it last year during OTAs. So, I don’t know if it was something that was lingering from then or not. You know, it didn’t show anything on my MRI or my X-Ray, but obviously I was feeling something. I feel much better than I did before. I feel like I can move a lot better and not having that throbbing pain that I had. Definitely looking forward to this year.”
